The Bowie lab focuses on the folding and assembly of membrane proteins with an emphasis on understanding the molecular forces that operate in a bilayer environment. To facilitate this work, the Bowie lab has developed and continues to develop new methods for crystallizing membrane proteins, for expressing membrane proteins, for stabilizing membrane proteins and for analyzing folding.
