Steve Goldstein

Provost and Professor of Biochemistry, Brandeis University

Research in the Goldstein group is directed towards understanding how ion channels operate in health and illness. They apply genetic, biophysical, biochemical, and structural methods to pursue the normal role, disease-association, and structural basis for function of potassium channels in five areas: Potassium channel pore-forming subunits. Potassium channel accessory subunits. Diseases of potassium channels in heart, brain, skeletal muscle and kidney. The 3D structure of potassium channels. Potassium channel structure and function dissected with molecular genetics.
